Internal Communication Lunch Discussions Series with Kirsten Major

An exclusive series of virtual roundtable discussions tailored for IABC members in internal communication presented by Kirsten Major.

One thing that I had wanted to do for IABC for quite some time is to propose an Inside Internal Comms discussion series, just for IABC members, no vendors, about a few key issues.
— Kirsten Major, Director of Internal Communications, Conair

Are you an IABC member looking to delve into critical issues in the field of internal communication? Join us for a three-part online discussion series that promises to be both enlightening and engaging. These discussions are exclusively for IABC members who have internal communication responsibilities and are designed to share insights, learn from peers, and explore key challenges that impact our industry.

Our Three Discussions

From Intranets to Increasing Profits (session completed)
January 18, 2024, from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST

Discover the intricate world of next-gen intranets and their unexpected potential to revolutionize business communications. We’ll explore how internal comms professionals can contribute to increased profitability by expanding their roles.

Differing Organizational Viewpoints on DEI (session completed)
February 22, 2024, from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST

Most enterprise businesses establish a no-politics-at-the-office policy for employees. But the fact is, many office norms have roots in political activism. Pursuing DEI communications can leave internal communications pros vividly aware of either alienating a silent part of their workforce, or creating DEI comms so bland as to be ineffective. In this closed-circle, confidential discussion we will discuss the  challenge of serving DEI initiatives in a workplace where differing viewpoints may create a "great beige silence."

Scope Creep in Internal Comms (session is at capacity, get on the waitlist)
March 21, 2024, from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST

As an internal communications pro, you are the visible face for the company to employees. As you determine your own next step development goals, you can get pulled into many potential directions, asked to do everything from intervening in policy disagreements to help with creating employee engagement programs. In this session, we'll discuss how you identify and fend off scope creep as it encroaches on your internal communication role. We’ll talk about maintaining your focus on effective communication, steering course to build your desired work portfolio, rather than becoming lost in tactical tasks or helping out with programming.

Location: Virtual Zoom Meeting

Cost: Free and exclusively open to IABC Members only.
