About our Speaker

David Ogunrinde
Owner, Inkroots

David can be described as a brand storyteller who uses the language of design to help corporations, startups, and non-profit organizations articulate their purpose, richly engage with audiences, and build enduring brand experiences.

Forever curious, David’s an eternal student and a generous teacher. These attributes serve him well in his role as an adjunct professor at the Graduate School at Rutgers University.

There, he instructs coveted, immersive courses in User Experience Design; demonstrating how to use design to break through the noise, improve experiences, drive value, and leave memorable impressions. In addition, he contributed as a board member of the Rutgers Design Thinking Advisory Board while the board was active.

For over 20 years, David has managed a rewarding design career, serving as a Creative Director, Designer, and Brand Strategist. He began his career as a graphic design intern at Johnson & Johnson, where he would later establish an internal design group - first of its kind, serving Johnson & Johnson’s Information Technology (IT) organization of 4,000+ employees. In his time there, David used design as a key business tool to heighten the visibility of IT’s enterprise-wide impact. The results were successful system implementations, increased engagement, and a revitalized global reputation for the IT brand.

In 2009, David went on to found Inkroots, a NY-based brand consultancy. Here he works with inspired leaders to uncover and meaningfully express their brand values and value – forming lasting bonds with their audiences as a result. Some of Inkroots’ clients include Rutgers University, Johnson & Johnson, NJ Department of Labor, and The Newark School of the Arts.

When not teaching or designing beautiful things, David can be found conspiring with his wife, Carla, on new ways to color outside the lines, do inspired work, and enjoy lives that matter.
